Creativity is the art of imagination. Whatever emerges from the mind, and ideas that come together to form a picture are all creative. Creativity is what others may call "weird" but when you look back at this piece of creative work, you feel proud of yourself!
Art word of the week : Line
As cited by Schirrmacher & Fox (2009), a line is a "visible mark made by an artistic tool, such as a crayon, moved across a surface, such as paper. It is a continuous dot, and usually suggests direction, movement, rhythm, or form" (p135).
I have always thought of people's artistic abilities as amazing, but that is one thing I do not hold within my ownself. My creative abilities lie within calligraphy!
Calligraphy is the art of writing script in such a way as to express the beauty of what is being written in the formation of the letters themselves.
Letters are symbols which turn matter into spirit
- Joanne Fink
In particular, Arabic calligraphy has always stood out to me since I was a child. Just looking at Arabic calligraphy and the flow of lines and letters, as well as the amazing penmanship that is present within the calligraphy art is truly mind blowing!
You can see that calligraphy too is dependent on the direction and movement of the line. Depending on which letter you want to write, the line has to be made differently.
The above picture is an example of Arabic calligraphy made by two of my very close friends. This particular piece also won first prize among many others in a competition about 3 years ago!
Another inspiration to my sense of creativity was the Art Attack guy. I would always love to watch that show. The things he would make, (which was shown in a matter of minutes), was just amazing! I remember whenever it was time for that show to start, my sisters and I would be in front of the TV 5 minutes before! I was always amazed by the things he would create. And I remember once the show would end, my sisters and I would try to make whatever he had created at home!
Children are the same - they learn by observing. What they do at school or daycare, they should be given the option of doing at home, so that they can build upon their learning.
